Dear Parents and Caregivers,

It has been a wonderful start to the year for our Year 7 cohort, and I am pleased to share how strongly the students have begun their journey at Peter Carnley Anglican Community School. Our Orientation Day was a great success, with students quickly becoming familiar with the school layout, confidently locating their classrooms, practising the use of their lockers, and learning how to navigate SEQTA to access their timetable and course information. It was encouraging to see how capable and adaptable they were from the very first day.

One of the highlights of Orientation was a team building activity where students worked together to create an intricate domino stack. This activity was not only fun, but deeply symbolic. As they carefully constructed their designs and then watched a single domino bring down the entire chain, students began to recognise the parallel for themselves. They saw that in a community, just like in their design, the actions of one person can affect everyone else. Their conversations naturally turned toward the importance of supporting one another and working together. It became a powerful early reflection on community and belonging, a message that our Pastoral Care Group (PCG) teachers have since continued to nurture and reinforce.

We began our first full week with the Principal’s Assembly, and the Year 7 students represented themselves exceptionally well. They were punctual, lined up promptly, listened attentively, and made a very positive first impression on the wider school community. Since then, students have begun settling into normal school routines, including attending their first Chapel service. They are now confidently moving between classes, learning where their rooms are, and growing in independence each day.

Each Friday in PCG, students have taken time to reflect on their week, considering what has gone well and what they are working towards. It has been a real highlight to see students connecting with their PCG teachers, forming new friendships, and adapting so well to high school life. Overall, they have been punctual, well presented in their uniform, and have demonstrated a positive attitude and readiness to learn. We are very proud of the strong start they have made and look forward to seeing their continued growth throughout the term.
