In Week 7, our Year 10 students stepped beyond the classroom to take part in our annual Work Experience Program a valuable opportunity to explore career pathways, develop workplace skills, and gain real insight into life beyond school.
Following three terms of Careers education, students were well prepared to tackle this experience with confidence. Across the week, they attended a wide range of placements throughout the local area, reflecting the diversity of their interests and emerging aspirations. Our students spent time in primary schools, mechanical workshops, libraries, local government planning departments, childcare centres, retail stores, hospitality venues, and a range of trade and service industries.
Many students secured their own placements, demonstrating impressive initiative and communication skills, while others were supported by our Careers teachers to find a suitable workplace. We have already received good feedback from employers, with several students offered casual positions or invited to return for future work experience a testament to their maturity, work ethic, and ability to adapt to new environments.
For some, the week confirmed a career path they are excited to pursue; for others, it provided valuable clarity about fields they may not wish to follow — an equally important part of the decision-making process as they move towards senior school.
We extend our gratitude to the many local businesses, schools, and organisations who generously welcomed our students and provided rich learning opportunities. Their support plays a vital role in helping young people make informed choices about their future pathways.
As Year 10 students now look ahead to Year 11 in 2026, the experiences gained during Work Experience Week will guide their subject choices, shape their career planning, and build confidence for the years ahead. We congratulate them on how well they represented themselves and our school community.
