At PCACS, student leadership is not just about holding a position; it’s about embodying values and making a positive impact within the school community. As we head further into 2025, our Prefects have set the tone for the year with a shared vison that emphasises leading with integrity and demonstrating love and a strong desire to inspire and make an impact. These core values will guide not only our Prefect team but also the wider student body as we focus on leadership development through the school.

PCACS Senior School and Junior School students have also been in the process of applying for positions on the Student Council. These students have submitted written applications and have been delivering speeches to their peers as a part of the election process, which is determined by student votes. The Senior School Student Council is a vital part of the school community, led by the Prefects, who volunteer their time to run events, represent the school and voice concerns and ideas from their fellow students. The Junior School Student Council is led by the Junior School Captains and the representatives from Year 3 to Year 6 meet twice per term to share ideas from their classes, discuss upcoming events, and provide assistance with the organising and running of these events. This collaborative effort from students across all year levels ensures that student voices are heard to contribute to the positive school culture.

The Year 10 Peer Support Leaders, announced and recognised recently are also stepping into their leadership roles. Along with the entire Year 10 cohort, they will be running a term-long programme to assist Year 7 students in their transition to the Senior School. These leaders are providing guidance, support and mentorship to ensure that the younger students are confident with the new chapter of their schooling journey.

Recently, our Junior School Captains attended the GRIP Leadership Conference, where they learnt valuable skills in areas such as inclusion, responsibility, resilience, empathy and teamwork. Additionally, along with the rest of their cohort, Year 6 students develop their citizenship skills by collecting containers for change, running Chapel Services, setting up for Junior School Assemblies, and managing the technology for the Chapel and Assembly services.

Throughout the year, there are many other leadership opportunities for students across the entire School, regardless of whether they hold formal positions. Every student has the opportunity to lead, whether it be through their actions, their involvement in school activities or the positive impact they make with their peers and the school community. Some examples of programmes that encourage leadership and connection across the entire school include the Year 2/12 Buddy Programme and the Year 6/11 Brotherhood/Sisterhood Programme.

As we continue into 2025, we are excited to see our students grow as leaders, guided by integrity, love and a strong desire to inspire. We look forward to seeing the impact these leaders have in the year ahead!
