A strong culture of commitment, teamwork and excellence has driven an impressive first half of 2026 for the Peter Carnley Anglican Community School Basketball Academy.
The Peter Carnley Anglican Community School Basketball Academy has enjoyed a highly successful first half of 2026, with students competing across a range of prestigious school basketball competitions and achieving outstanding results at both regional and state levels.
The year began with the Senior Boys competing in the ACC Champion Division during Term 1. Facing some of the strongest basketball programs in the state, the team performed admirably to finish fourth out of six schools, demonstrating resilience, skill, and determination throughout the competition.
The Academy also fielded teams in the Senior MARKAS competition during Term 1. Both the boys' and girls' teams delivered impressive performances, with the boys finishing second out of eight schools and the girls securing fourth place out of eight. These results highlighted the continued growth and competitiveness of the Academy's senior program.
At the junior level, Peter Carnley students continue to make their mark in the Junior MARKAS competition. The Junior Boys finished fourth in their division, while the Junior Girls achieved an exceptional result by winning their region. Their success earned them progression to the ACC State Finals bracket, where the Year 7 to 9 girls competed against the state's leading school teams and ultimately finished among the top four schools in Western Australia.
Success has continued into Term 2 through the SSWA Basketball Carnival. The Senior Boys once again demonstrated their strength by finishing runners up in their regional competition. The Senior Girls delivered another outstanding campaign, winning their region and earning the opportunity to compete against fellow regional champions at the next stage of the SSWA Carnival on 16 June.
The busy schedule continues next week, with Year 7 and Year 10 boys' and girls' teams set to represent the school at the SSWA 3x3 Basketball Carnival on 17 June. The event provides another valuable opportunity for students to showcase their skills, teamwork, and passion for the game.
These achievements reflect the dedication of the students, coaches, staff, and families who contribute to the success of the Peter Carnley Anglican Community School Basketball Academy. The Academy continues to provide students with opportunities to develop their basketball abilities while fostering teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship. With several major events still ahead, the remainder of the year promises to be an exciting chapter for basketball at PCACS.
