It was a joyful and uplifting day, bringing light and hope in the face of the challenges experienced by those affected.

On Friday, our school came alive with vibrant colour and creativity as students and staff took part in the World’s Greatest Shave and Crazy Hair Day, raising over $17,000 for blood cancer care and research.

With the support of our proud Principal, Ms House, brave participants embraced buzz cuts and ponytail chops, generously donating their hair to Sustainable Salons, where it will be repurposed into wigs. Ms House was at the heart of the action, helping to cut the ponytails of participants, including the luscious locks of Mr Barwick, Head of Music and Performing Arts. Across both Campuses, students proudly showcased their imaginative hairstyles, featuring bold colours and inventive designs. The creativity on display, from spikes to food themed styles and even dolls, was a testament to the enthusiasm of our students and the support of our parent and caregiver community.

A particularly moving moment came when Layla Vos, now in remission, courageously shared her experience of being diagnosed with cancer in 2024. Speaking at last week’s assembly, she highlighted the importance of shaving in solidarity with Australians impacted by blood cancer.

This event would not have been possible without the generosity of the team from Hype Hair Studio, who have donated their time and expertise for the past three years. Throughout the week, YMAD representatives and Junior School Captains also contributed by selling Canteen bandannas and raffle tickets at the Wellard Campus.

Thank you to everyone who shaved, cut, coloured, or decorated their hair in support of the 170,000 Australians living with blood cancer. It was a joyful and uplifting day, bringing light and hope in the face of the challenges experienced by those affected.
