The new building represents a significant investment in the school’s learning environment and provides opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop new skills and strive for excellence.

Peter Carnley Anglican Community School (PCACS) has welcomed the start of Term 4 with the announcement of its 2027 Student Prefects and the official naming of its newly completed learning building, Kaarla Kaartdijin.

The announcement assembly brought together students, families and supporters to celebrate the school’s incoming student leaders and mark a significant milestone in the school’s ongoing development.

The newly completed Stage 9 building has been officially named Kaarla Kaartdijin, drawing on two Noongar words: Kaarla, meaning fire, and Kaartdijin, meaning knowledge.

The name reflects the building’s purpose as a place of learning, creativity, connection and cultural understanding. Fire holds deep practical and spiritual significance in Noongar culture, representing warmth, safety, the sharing of stories and the passing down of knowledge between generations.

The concept of fire also reflects the AngliSchools values of Faith, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence.

Kaarla Kaartdijin will provide dedicated learning and creative spaces for mathematics, visual arts, home economics, drama and music. The facilities will support a wide range of activities, including mathematical learning, visual art, food technology, textile design and performing arts.

The completion of the building marks the end of a major construction project delivered in less than 18 months and on budget. Following the completion of construction, the building passed its final inspection by the City of Kwinana and received its Occupancy Certificate, allowing staff to begin moving into the new facilities ahead of Term 4.

The new building represents a significant investment in the school’s learning environment and provides opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop new skills and strive for excellence.

Our community also celebrated the announcement of the 2027 School Prefects, recognising students who have demonstrated leadership, commitment and a willingness to contribute to the wider school community.

Student leadership at PCACS is founded on service, integrity and the school’s Christian values. Students are encouraged to develop their leadership skills through school activities, service learning, sporting and cultural events, peer support initiatives and a range of extracurricular programs.

The selection process for the 2027 Prefects included written applications, election speeches, student voting and interviews. Candidates were given the opportunity to communicate their leadership vision and outline the positive contributions they hope to make to the school community.

The incoming leadership team will build on the example established by the 2026 Prefects, continuing a tradition of student leadership that encourages collaboration, creativity and community involvement.

The newly appointed Prefects will represent the school at events, support their fellow students and contribute to building a welcoming and inclusive community. Their roles will involve leading by example, embracing the school’s mission and values, and encouraging others to participate in the opportunities available at PCACS.

The assembly concluded with congratulations to the incoming prefects and a prayer for their leadership journey.

The beginning of Term 4 also signals an important period for the school community, particularly for Year 12 students approaching the end of their secondary schooling and Year 11 students preparing for their final year.

The term’s program includes the Year 9 Rite Journey camp and homecoming ceremony, the Year 11 Outdoor Recreation camp at Rottnest Island, excursions to Kings Park, cricket and robotics competitions, and celebrations marking the transition of Year 6 students into Senior School.

The school year will conclude with awards ceremonies and Carols on the Green, bringing the community together to celebrate student achievements and reflect on the year’s highlights.

With the opening of Kaarla Kaartdijin and the appointment of the 2027 Prefects, PCACS enters the final term of 2026 with a renewed focus on learning, leadership and community. Both milestones reflect the school’s ongoing commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for students to discover their potential and contribute positively to the world around them.

God Bless
