Our Junior School was buzzing with excitement as we held our annual Athletics Carnivals. The Kindergarten Tabloid Carnival, held at the Calista Campus on Tuesday 2 September, kicked off the festivities. It was wonderful to see so many proud and enthusiastic families cheering on our youngest Students as they took part in running races and tabloid games.
On Thursday 4 and Wednesday 10 September, students from both the Wellard and Calista campuses came together for the Pre Primary to Year 6 Carnival, held at the Wellard Oval. Thankfully, the weather held out, allowing for a fantastic display of athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit. Students participated in a range of events including jumping, throwing, running, and team games. Many were awarded place ribbons for their efforts, and the atmosphere was electric with cheers as teammates competed in sprints, relays, and group activities.
All three carnivals were a great success, highlighting the incredible talent, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship of our young athletes. The determination of our students to achieve personal bests was truly inspiring, with many standout performances that will be remembered for years to come.
A special highlight for the Calista students was a visit from the School Mascots, which added to the excitement of the day. We also had exceptional performances in Shot Put, where two school records were broken, a fantastic achievement!
Finally, a huge congratulations to Moody House, this year’s overall carnival champions, proudly led by our Year 6 Sport Captain, Kade Hamersley. I would also like to extend my congratulations to the following students who earned Champion and Runner-Up medals for their outstanding performances.

There were 3 School Athletics records broken during the carnival which is testament to the standard of competition on display. Congratulations to the following students who are now the proud holders of the following records:
Gabriella Isoberenge (Year 1)
- 70m (14.17seconds)
Shiv Patel (Year 2)
- Underarm Shot Put (9.6m)
Harlow Murugesan (Year 2)
- Underarm Shot Put (8.07m)
Beyond the impressive athletic feats, the essence of the carnival was in the spirit displayed. Students cheered each other on, offered words of encouragement, and celebrated each other's successes. The true champions of the day were those who demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, showing that athletics is as much about character as it is about competition.
A special thank you goes to all the Senior School student helpers, P&F, teachers, and staff who worked tirelessly to make the carnival days run smoothly. Their dedication made the carnival a memorable experience for all.
