Start of new School Year

Here we are at the end of Week 2 already! We certainly have packed a lot in to the first two weeks of term. It has been a pleasure talking to parents and students across both campuses about holidays and the joy of the first weeks of school. I wish to thank all parents for the care and attention given to getting ready for the start of the school year. A special vote of thanks goes to the Kindy, Year 2 and Year 7 families as they transition into these important phases of the life of PCACS. It’s wonderful to see that the students have settled in very quickly and the year has started with a sense of excitement and endeavour.

The year has started with a number of events and activities for parents and students as you will discover as you read through this edition of the Newsletter.

Prefect Induction

Our Prefect Induction was held on Wednesday 6 February where our Prefects and Captains were formally inducted into their roles. The year 12 students were also recognised as the Seniors of the school.  This is a very impressive group of Year 12s who are very supportive of each other and very proud of PCACS. I look forward to working with them throughout the year.  One of their first tasks was to visit the Year 7s on camp. It is always heartening to know that they were so valued on camp that everyone was sad to see the bus leave for PCACS.

Head Boy – Blake Newton
Head Girl – Tisha Davies
Deputy Head Prefect – Hyllyan Lopez
Deputy Head Prefect – Dakota Franz
Arts Captain – Caelen Browning
Service Captain – Aiden Galbraith
Laurence House Captain – Millie Zaragoza
Lindbeck House Captain – Jack Austin
Moody House Captain – Georgia Johnson
Murray House Captain – Declan Ryan

More photos from the Prefect Induction are available at the following LINK.

Year 12 Ball

The East Fremantle Yacht Club was transformed into an elegant black tie event on Friday 8 February for our Year 12 students and their guests.  A glorious night of dining and dancing was a fitting tribute to their final year of school. A stunning and dignified event, the Year 12 Ball was captured with formal photos as well as fun photos in the photo booth. The staff and members of the Yacht Club were exceedingly complimentary of our students; they are a credit to themselves, their families and our school. Thank you to Mrs Jude Russell and her team for organising a wonderful evening for our Year 12 students.

Parent Information Evenings

A series of Parent Information Evenings are held in the first few weeks of Term 1 to provide information about the year ahead.  Thank you to all the parents and families who joined us for the first two evenings, the first for Year 7 and second for K to Year 1 parents at Calista. The final evening will be held at Wellard for Year 2 to 6 parents next week. The Year 7 Parent Information booklet can be found on SEQTA Engage.

Year 7 Camp

I had the pleasure of joining the Year 7s on Wednesday at Camp Mornington in Harvey. The camp is designed to assist the Year 7s to get to know their Tutor groups and teachers as the start of their Journey through Senior School. There is a mix of adventure learning and team building activities that encourage leadership, cohesion and problem solving. The Year 7s made the most of their time at camp and we look forward to hearing their stories next week. Thank you to Mrs Musson Brown and the staff who organised and attended this adventurous camp.

Thank you to the PCACS community for a positive and exciting start to 2019.

International student arrives

This week we welcomed Nicholas Leong to our PCACS community. Nicholas is from Malaysia and has joined out School as part of the Anglican Schools Commission International programme.  Nicholas is in Year 10 and hopes to complete his secondary education at PCACS.  He is a keen basketballer, following the Houston Rockets in the NBA, and he has already been getting involved in the competitive games at Recess and Lunch.  We wish Nicholas every success throughout his time with us.

To read a little more about Nicholas, click HERE

Scholarship programme

Scholarship for 2020 are now open. Scholarships are available for current and prospective students across a number of areas. For full details and an application form, please visit the Scholarship section of the School website HERE

The “Loft”

The commencement of the new School year has bought with it a few changes here at PCACS. Over the holiday break the upstairs area of the Technology Building was refurbished into The “Loft”.

The “Loft” is a contemporary space incorporating new student lockers, soft furnishings and flexible seating.  The area allows for adjoining classrooms to break out into and for students to complete private study. It is also a place for our Year 12 students to sit and relax in.  I look forward to seeing the use of this space develop over the course of the year.

Calista campus parking

I would like to ask all Calista parents to not park on the verge area on Walgreen Avenue or near the Moulton St and Summerton Rd junction at the Calista Campus.  Parking in these areas obstructs other driver’s views and is also a danger to students using the pathways.  As a School community I hope everyone can take this advice on board and only park in appropriate areas.

SEQTA Engage App

The SEQTA Engage app for IOS and Android devices is available in the App Store or through Google Play.  When setting up the app for your device, please select the manual setup option and use the URL https://engage.pcacs.wa.edu.au/

Once you have entered in your username and password you will be able to access the SEQTA portal on your device.

God Bless

Junior School News - Mrs Shirley Steel

Around the Junior School Classrooms!

Thank you for a wonderful start to the year!  My sincere gratitude goes to families, students, teachers and support staff for a positive, productive fortnight.  Students are well equipped and ready to learn, the classrooms are calm learning environments and our teachers are delivering engaging lessons.

On Tuesday 12 February it was a pleasure welcoming so many families to the Calista Parent Information Evening, which was a wonderful opportunity to foster our partnership between home and school.

Next week we look forward to Years 5 and 6 participating in swimming lessons, and to the start of our Cocurricular Program.

On both campuses there is an amazing buzz and a positive vibe around the school.  Here is what I would like to share:

Miss Scruby’s Kindergarten (Kangaroos)

A highlight of the first week was seeing brand new faces arrive at Kindy to join our school community.  The students were very eager to start exploring the classroom, and they got over their initial nervousness very early on in the day!

When asked, “What do we like doing at Kindy,” some responses from the students were:

“Playing with dinosaurs because I like Jurassic World!” said Micah.

“Going super fast on the slide,” said Addison.

“I like the light thing (table),” said Sophie.

Mrs Griffiths’ Kindergarten (Bobtail Lizards)

Seeing the excited faces on our Kindergarten children’s faces as they explore the learning areas in our classroom has been a highlight of our first two weeks!

Ellena asked, “Can I come back tomorrow,” and Mrs Griffiths responded by saying, “We have to stay home for Saturday and Sunday, then you come back.”  “That’s too long!” responded Ellena.

Miss Chan’s Pre Primary (Kookaburras)

The highlights of the first week were reuniting with old friends, making new friends and sharing holiday stories.

“I liked seeing my new classroom and playing with our new puzzles,” said Olivia K.

Mrs Jones’ Pre Primary (Honey Eaters)

A highlight was seeing the happy, eager faces of the students as they walked into their first day of Pre Primary and watching them explore their new classroom.

"I liked playing with the dinosaurs," explained Cooper.

Miss Bedford’s Pre Primary (Wattlebirds)

A highlight of the first week was moving into our new classroom, making new friends and learning all about each other.

“I love playing in the playground but I get sand in my shoes” exclaimed Indiah (Indie).

Mrs Suckling’s Year 1 (Possums)

A highlight from Week 1 was investigating a strange object that we found in the Nature Playground. Through our inquiry we discovered that it was a seed cone from a Zamia Palm, which is one of the oldest palms on the planet, dating back to the prehistoric era!

"My favourite thing about Year 1 has been our Number work; like when we did the hundred Chart!" exclaimed Musa.

Miss Hoad’s Year 1 (Galahs)

Year 1 enjoyed participating in a Number Hunt around the school and making number posters with materials collected from the bush play area.

“I really like that we move desks every week because we get to sit with different people every week,” says Scarlett.

Miss Ridge’s Year 1 (King Fishers)

Miss Ridge’s students are proud to be called King Fishers and are so excited to be back at school.

Jade said, “My favourite part of the first week was playing with all my friends and playing with people who were lonely.”

Miss Hickey’s Year 2 Class

The students say their highlight is, “All the fun tests!”  Miss Hickey’s highlight is noticing how easily all the Year 2 students have settled in at Wellard, after coming across from Calista. They are being supportive of each other and show incredible responsibility.

“I love this school and our big classroom, with the activity tables,” states Ashlyn H.

Mrs Taylor’s Year 2 Class

We have enjoyed meeting and naming our classroom pets. We have three fish called Laser, Daisy and Bobo, and five baby stick insects we have named Avocado, Camo, Shadow, Lightning and Blackberry.

“I like looking at our class pets because it makes me feel happy,” says Matilda.

Ms Warner’s Year 2 Class

A highlight in 2W was meeting our Year 5 buddies.

"I am looking forward to meeting all the lovely teachers," says Charlotte.

"What I like about my new class is that we get to sit where we want, unless we are silly!" explains Chenuli.

"I really like our plants in our class," mentions Jude.

Mrs Knight’s Year 3 Class

The students of 3K have jumped straight into the challenges and expectations of Upper Junior. They have been busy writing recounts of their summer holidays, focusing on the correct text structure and using descriptive language to engage the reader.

Zylen says, “The best thing about Year 3 so far is being able to kick the soccer ball on the oval and go up to the canteen at lunchtime.”

Ms Maddy’s Year 3 Class

Year 3 students have loved exploring living and non-living things in our school bush area. They used their Tuff Cams to take photographs of their interesting findings.

Adelle says, “I liked meeting our new classmate.  I also like that we can go to the canteen this year!”

Mrs McHardy-Pokroy’s Year 3 Class

A highlight for the students was catching up with each other and discovering their Year 2 teacher had moved to Year 3!

“We're back!” announced Vincent and Joshua.

Miss Barker’s Year 4 Class

It has been wonderful to join the team at PCACS and meet all the wonderful students in 4B, whom have filled the classroom with positive energy and enthusiasm.

“My first week in 4B has been magnificent. I have really enjoyed Miss Barker being my teacher,” says Isabella.

Mr Morris’ Year 4 Class

This week in 4M we have had so much fun meeting our classroom insects.  Jeff, Sticky and Baby Groot continue to grow bigger every day and we have enjoyed handling them when we clean their enclosure.

“I was scared to hold the stick insects at first, but after I held them I realised that they are really cool!” exclaims Isobel C.

Mrs McDonald’s Year 5 Class

In 5Mc, the highlight was the introduction of flexible seating within the classroom. The students have responded well to the responsibility of choosing their station each day, and they work hard to achieve their personal best.

“Wow!” said many of the students when they entered their classroom for the first time, “It feels so calm.”

Mrs Morphew’s Year 5 Class

So far this term, the students have contemplated, written and taken photos about ‘The Best Part of Me’, using our newly acquired iPads. The class have demonstrated their enthusiasm for Just Dance, having a blast during 'brain breaks'.

Nikolas commented, “I really like Year 5 so far, and I cannot wait for camp!”

Ms Butler’s Year 5 Class

Ms Butler’s highlight has been welcoming her students in the first week and she is already beginning to see their wonderful personalities emerging.

Annabelle mentions, “I like that our classroom is upstairs, I love the plants in our room and I think the Star Wars pictures are cool.”

Mrs Bowdler’s Year 6 Class

6B has had a wonderful start to Year 6, taking on a range of leadership roles within the school and enjoying our fresh new classroom setting.

Lillian says, “The highlight of my first week of school was having Mrs Bowdler as my teacher and the lovely classroom we have with the plants and flexible seating.”

Miss Mallett’s Year 6 Class

Year 6 students have loved to choose their own seats every day, and demonstrate they are very responsible by working hard and showing great focus!

“I find Year 6 is fun, and I thought it would be harder but it is really fun,” says Olivia B.

Miss Ceklic’s Year 6 Class

It has been a fantastic start to the year in 6C.  We have all enjoyed getting to know each other and settling into our new classroom – our class has real plants, a coffee table and even a toy chicken named Steve!

“So far my experience in 6C has been amazing! Considering it’s my last year of Junior School, I think I’m going to end it well.  Miss Ceklic is a nice and caring teacher with an extremely calming room.  I will enjoy this year heaps!” states Mackenzie B.

What an astounding start to the year!  It is so heartening to see the students appreciating all the opportunities that PCACS offers, thus enabling them to learn and grow into accomplished individuals.  I look forward to seeing what the next fortnight brings to Junior School life!

Senior School News - Ms Judith Stringer

Welcome to the Senior School 2019 school year.  A special welcome to new students we hope you are now settled into a routine and that you are getting to know your peers and your teachers.

The 2019 school year began for all Year 7, 11 and 12 students on Monday 4 February.  Year 7 students spent their first day of Senior School getting to know their Tutor Group teachers, finding their lockers and learning how to use their locks.  Navigating their way around the Senior School campus was also a positive experience, as was the anticipation and then the final arrival at their different classrooms.  Meeting their teachers was also a highlight and they were all looking forward to getting on with their Year 7 school year.  Year 12 students buddied up to assist and welcome them all into the Senior School.  The leaders helped with the distributions of diaries and timetables and

locker organsiation making the Year 7 students’ start to the year enjoyable and smooth.

We wish all Year 7 students a successful and positive journey through this year and encourage each student to communicate regularly with their teachers for an informal chat about their learning.

The Year 12 students started with a welcome and a strong message encouraging the group to focus on their final year of schooling.  Expectations, responsibilities  and a calendar of school events was presented with the emphasis on making the most of the year to achieve their personal best and having some post school pathway choices.

A key message for all Year 12 students was the cutoff date for changes to courses and the need to be committed to all their timetabled studies.  The School follows the published guidelines by the School Curriculum & Standards Authority (SCSA) to ensure all students are best placed to gain their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and if applicable to achieve their best Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).  The need to continually seek assistance from teachers was impressed upon them as a significant tool for success.  Managing the demands of Year 12 in a balanced manner will help all students finish in fine style.

Please see Ms Stringer or Mr Dods if you wish to discuss your timetable as soon as possible as no changes to courses will be made after week 3.  Monitoring Year 12 student progress will be an ongoing process.

Year 11 students were all very keen to start their final two years of Senior Secondary schooling.  They are all to be congratulated for their focus and their positive start to the year.  Our group session encouraged each student to be the best version of themselves and this can be achieved by continually seeking assistance from all of their teachers.  Mastering the skill of a continual dialogue with each of their teachers will help keep the learning journey specific to their individual needs.  It keeps the balance between school, family, friends and personal space very manageable and healthy.

Years 8, 9 and 10 students started their school year on Tuesday 5 February and after year group welcomes, organising lockers, timetables and dairies, got ready to start the academic year.  All students are to be commended on their start to the year and we wish them well as they look ahead to achieving their personal best in all of their school opportunities.

Year 12 Ball

Class, elegance and sophistication was the setting for the Year 12 Ball that captured the theme from the James Bond 007 film Casino Royal in all its glamour and style.  All Year 12 students and their guests enjoyed the evening immensely.   The young ladies all looked stunning in their beautiful evening gowns and the young gentlemen looked very dapper and strikingly handsome in their suits.

A night of music, dancing and a beautiful dinner combined to make this night one to remember.  Thanks to the students who assisted Mrs Russell and Mrs Wesley to prepare the East Fremantle Yacht Club for this very special Year 12 occasion.

Year 7 Parent Information Night

An overview of key messages was presented to the Year 7 students and their parents at last week’s information night.  The School Principal, Ms House, welcomed parents and students to the Senior School and encouraged them to work in partnership with the School and staff to give their children the best opportunities PCACS has to offer.  Getting involved and striving for personal best will give an assurance that their many experiences will prepare them for the coming years.

The information night presented an overview of the following:

  • Getting to know staff
  • Learning in the Senior School
  • Pastoral Care – Compass
  • School life as a Year 7
  • Mornington – Year 7 Camp
  • Communication lines
  • How to navigate SEQTA

The Year 7 Information Handbook is available on SEQTA.

ONLINE LITERACY AND NUMERACY

Online Literacy and Numeracy (OLNA)

Online Literacy and Numeracy (OLNA) Round One is scheduled as outlined in the following table.  Students will be notified if they are required to sit OLNA and will be well prepared for this mandated requirement for the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).

The School has purchased an extensive range of online assessments for students to practise during school scheduled times and can be accessed at home.  Students will be given their personal login details over the next week.

Please contact Mr Ross Dods, Director of Curriculum, if you have any queries regarding OLNA.

We look forward to encouraging all students to be the best version of themselves and to strive for their personal best.  Best of luck for a wonderful year ahead for all students!

Parents are very welcome to contact the School if you wish to discuss your child’s learning.

God Bless

Rite Journey & Compass

The Rite Journey

The Rite Journey has commenced at PCACS with our Year 9 students engaging in the program with a weekly session being conducted with their mentor teacher. The Rite Journey reinvents the traditional process of a Rite of Passage to assist in transforming adolescents from dependency to responsibility. The year-long program incorporates a number of events and Ceremonies throughout the year to challenge the students, and celebrate their journey to young adulthood.

On Thursday 7 March, we will celebrate two elements of this program in a ceremony with the students, parents and Rite Journey staff at Shoalwater reserve at sunset.  The first element of the program being celebrated is the ‘Calling’, which encourages students to show gratitude for their childhood and call them on their journey to adulthood.  The second component to the ceremony is the ‘Departure’, which involves parents, carers and mentors joining the students for an opportunity to learn, reflect and look forward.  The Rite Journey will continue all year and conclude with a similar ceremony at the end of the year to celebrate the student’s graduation from the programme.

The Launch of Compass

In 2018, the Pastoral Coordinators reviewed the pastoral programmes offered in the Senior School at PCACS.  The focus of this review was to determine what skillset our students should develop by the end of their time at PCACS to enter life after school as self-aware, vital, responsible and resilient adults.  The inclusion of the Rite Journey programme for Year 9 students helped shape the aims and objectives for age appropriate development themes for each year group.  This work culminated in the development of the Compass programme, which has been launched to students, staff and families at the start of 2019.  The overarching theme of the compass and the shared journey is broken down further into specific year group themes as follows:

  • Year 7 – Setting the Course
  • Year 8 – Journey with Others
  • Year 9 – Journey Within
  • Year 10 – Mapping the Future
  • Year 11 – Fellow Travellers
  • Year 12 – Journey Beyond

Throughout a student’s journey in ‘Compass’, they will gain valuable experience in a wide and varied range of programmes including Peer Support, Friendly School’s, Service Learning, The Rite Journey, Keys for Life, Protective Behaviours, Interhouse Competitions, and many more.  These experience will build on their knowledge and skillset each year to prepare them to be young adults with a strong sense of self, healthy wellbeing and a drive to help others.

The staff are excited to share this journey with our students and are excited to see the impact the Compass and The Rite Journey can make on their lives.

Anglicare WA Christmas Appeal 2018

Thank you to all PCACS families who donated items, cash and gift cards to the Anglicare WA Christmas Appeal in Term 4.  Once again, I was overwhelmed and inspired by the generosity of our community.

The YMAD (Youth Making a Difference) team took $800 cash, collected from Carols on the Green, Fix It With 5 and the Christmas Appeal, to Big W to purchase goods for Y-Shac, crisis accommodation for young people aged 15 to 25 years in Spearwood and Rockingham.  The students purchased bedding, kitchen goods and appliances, and health and beauty products.  This will be used for the existing accommodation as well as being gifted to young people when they transition from the crisis accommodation into another home.  $400 of donated gift vouchers were used by Anglicare WA to purchase Christmas gifts for those living at Y-Shac.  Ms House and I had the privilege of delivering two carloads of goods to Y-Shac.  The Anglicare WA staff were overwhelmed and so grateful for these donations.

The donated scrapbooks and stationery were sent to the Albany Women’s Shelter to help the counsellors working with children as well as helping those in need with school supplies for the new school year.

It is inspiring what we can achieve together.  By giving small, we really can make a significant difference in the lives of others.

Anglicare Ambassadors

Every year Anglican schools across Perth appoint a group of senior students to be Anglicare Ambassadors for the year.  The ambassadors participate in a number of educational activities learning about social justice in Western Australia, in particular youth homelessness.  Next week the ambassadors will attend the launch event where they will get to meet the Street Connect youth homelessness service team and hop aboard the Street Connect bus.  The ambassadors will also advertise, support and attend the Anglicare WA Sleep Out in August at Optus Stadium along with other interested students.

Congratulations to the following students for being selected as Anglicare Ambassadors:

  • Kalahni Best (Year 12)
  • Aiden Galbraith (Year 12 – Service Captain)
  • Bridie Jones (Year 9)
  • Cassandra Palermo (Year 12)
  • Eve Pattiselanno (Year 11)

YMAD – Monday Lunchtimes

YMAD (Youth Making a Difference) is a lunchtime Service Learning group that is led by the Service Captain, Aiden Galbraith, with the assistance of the Anglicare Ambassadors.  Students are encouraged to come with their ideas, skills and passions, and as a group we discuss how we can help our community and work towards actioning these ideas.  Our focus so far has been on changing our thinking to realise that raising awareness of a cause is just as important as raising funds.  We are in the process of developing a partnership with Aegis Aged Care Banksia Park and are hoping to setup regular visits with them as part of the Service Learning programme.  All students from Years 5 to 12 are invited to attend this group.  We meet Monday lunchtimes in the Junior Music Room.

Service in Action – Lachlan Kirk (Pre Primary)

Lachlan Kirk, Pre Primary, is an inspiring child with a big heart.  He wanted to use money out of his moneybox to buy breakfast for families in need.  Realising he didn’t have enough money, he reached out to his neighbours through offering to bring in their bins for $1 per bin.  This was no easy feat considering Lachlan’s age and that he lives in the rural area of Wellard with long, gravel driveways!  Lachlan’s aim was to raise $20.  His neighbours rallied behind him and he was able to raise $30.  He also contacted Weet-Bix who were so inspired by his big heart that they sent him this message: ‘Our hearts are all melting in the office for Lachlan’s beautiful heart.  We’d like to help him out if that is alright?  We can send a few boxes of Weet-Bix his way so he can keep making the world a better place!’  Lachlan was able to supply breakfast for six families.

Congratulations Lachlan; keep up the good work.  You are a true example of how to make a difference in this world no matter your age.

If your child is making a difference in our community, I would love to hear about it.  Let’s celebrate all of the positive things going on in our world and inspire others to do the same.  Email: rebeccaw@pcacs.wa.edu.au

Junior School Physical Education

Our Junior School community has begun the year with a number of exciting upcoming sporting events on the calendar.

Interhouse Swimming Carnival

We will be running the PCACS Junior Interhouse Swimming Carnival on Friday 8 March. This will see all students from Years 3-6 involved in two separate carnivals. Year 3 and Year 4 students will begin racing at approximately 9.20am and conclude at 12.10pm. Year 5 and Year 6 will commence their carnival at approximately 12.20pm and conclude at 2.45pm. This will be an amazing opportunity for the school community to support our young swimmers and participate in a great day.

Swimming Training

Students have the option to attend before school swim training sessions which will be held from 7.15am to 8.00am each Tuesday and Thursday in the lead up to our carnival in Week 5. We will be working with the Senior School students and staff, which will provide a great opportunity to improve our swimming skills and learn from different teachers and students. It should be noted these sessions are not swimming lessons.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons for Year 4 and 5 will commence in Week 3, Monday 18 February. Year 6 students will commence in Week 4, Monday 25 February. These lessons will be run for the entire week.

Inter school Cricket Competition

Kwinana Sporting Schools Association will be running an Inter school Cricket Competition on Friday 29 March. Students will be selected from year 5 and 6 to represent PCACS with a boy and girl team. This will cap off a busy start to our year and training will start closer to the event day.

Please see Mr Holland for more information about any Junior Sports at PCACS.

Harmony Week at PCACS

Harmony Week at PCACS - To be Celebrated Across Our School

Monday 18 March – Friday 22 March

Throughout the week of Monday 18 March to Friday 22 March our students from Kindergarten to Year 12 will celebrate Australian multiculturalism by participating in a wide variety of Harmony Week activities.

The celebration of Harmony Week is based on the successful integration of migrants into our community.  It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.  The ongoing theme is ‘everyone belongs’.

One way for us to celebrate Harmony Week at PCACS will be for staff and students to dress in cultural dress, or if they prefer they can wear an orange headband, ribbon, scarf or socks.  Orange is the official Harmony Day colour signifying social communication and meaningful conversations. The colour orange also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.

Calista Harmony Cultural Dress Day (Kindergarten to Year 1) - Tuesday 19 March

Wellard Harmony Cultural Dress Day (Year 2 to Year 12) - Wednesday 20 March

Please mark your diaries for this special event, and we look forward to seeing our students and staff in cultural dress or wearing the colour orange on the dress up days.

P&F News

Hello Parents & Friends,

Welcome back everyone to another school year. We hope you had wonderful holidays and are ready for an exciting 2019.

We are hitting the ground running this year with a morning tea to welcome everyone back which is being held on Friday 22 February at Calista Campus from 8.45am.  All parents and friends are welcome so please come along and meet your committee as well as have an opportunity to chat with other parents.

We have also created our 2019 P&F calendar which outlines all the P&F events currently scheduled for this year. These will be distributed at the Parent Information Evenings and are available for collection from reception at both campuses. Make sure to add the dates to your diary and use the opportunity to have a think about which events you may be able to lend a hand with. As always we are not able to run events on our own and appreciate any help that other parents are able to provide.

We are looking forward to a fun and exciting year this year and hope to see you all at an event soon.

Kindy students settle in

We were very excited to welcome our new Kindy students and their parents into our school community.   The children eagerly participated in classroom activities and began building strong relationships in their learning environment. We sang songs, drew some pictures of ourselves and played together in the playground.

Below are some pictures of the Kindy students enjoying their day.

Join a PCACS Music Ensemble

Playing in an musical ensemble offers the opportunity to express oneself, form strong friendships and work as a team. It is also lots of fun!

Peter Carnley ACS has a number of fantastic instrumental ensembles to join, led by our expert instrumental teachers.  These include Junior Band, Senior Concert Band, Certificate Music Contemporary Band, Violin Ensemble and Cello Ensemble.  We also have 3 choirs on offer:  Young Voices (Year 2-3), Peter Carnley Children’s Choir (Year 4-6) and Senior Choir (Year 7-12). Our ensembles perform at various school and community events throughout the year.  Last year saw a number of our ensembles performing on the stage at Perth Concert Hall and at the Perth Arena.

If you would like to learn and instrument or join an ensemble, please contact Ms Alicia Walter in the music office, or email music@pcacs.wa.edu.au.  Instrumental enrolment forms can also be found on the SEQTA portal.

2019 Year 12 Ball

The annual Year 12 Ball is a great chance for students to begin their final year in style and 2019 has been no different. Once again the venue was the East Fremantle Yacht Club, where students made the most of the river view from the balcony between enjoying a buffet dinner, posing for photographs and showcasing their skills on the dancefloor.

Suitably attired for the occasion, the students and their guests looked fabulous and conducted themselves in a manner that reflected the fun formality of the event. The teachers attending the event also turned out impeccably and the award for Best Dressed Teacher came down to a tie-breaker.

Many Thanks to everyone who helped make the Ball a memorable event for the Year 12s; both in the preparation and planning and at the Ball itself. Many great memories were made and many great pictures captured. We wish the Year 12s well as they now settle in to their studies and look forward to celebrating their achievement at the end of year Valedictory dinner.
