I am continually inspired by the way our students step up, speak out, and serve with humility and heart. Whether they wear a badge or not, they are shaping a school culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

This is a special time in our school year, where we reflect on the outstanding contributions of our current Prefects, who have led with integrity, passion, and purpose, and look ahead as we begin the process of electing our 2026 Prefect team.

Last week, 24 Year 11 students stood before the Senior School to share their leadership vision. Their speeches were thoughtful, courageous, and deeply personal, demonstrating a clear understanding of what it means to lead with character and purpose. Next week, candidates will take part in interviews with members of Executive, offering further insight into their ideas and strengths. The 2026 Prefects will be formally announced at the Principal’s Assembly in Week 1 of Term 4.

While the Prefect election is a highlight, it is just one part of a rich and diverse leadership landscape at our school. We believe every student has the capacity to lead, and we are committed to nurturing that potential in ways that reflect our core values of Belonging, Spirituality, Excellence, and Respect.

Students have many formal opportunities to develop leadership skills through programmes such as Student Council, Peer Support, Year 2/12 Buddies, Year 6/11 Brotherhood and Sisterhood, Anglicare Ambassadors, YMAD (Youth Making a Difference), and Carnley’s Cuppas. These initiatives foster connection, service, and a sense of purpose across year levels.

Leadership also happens in quieter moments, through leading a Chapel service, contributing to a service learning project, or simply offering support to a peer. These everyday actions are just as powerful and reflect the Christ-like qualities we seek to develop in our students.

In the coming weeks, I look forward to celebrating the achievements of our current Prefects and welcoming the new team, who will no doubt make a meaningful impact within our school and beyond.
